Like A Thief In The Night

Readings: John 14:1-7, I Thessalonians 4:13-5:11

The return of Jesus to earth is normally a point of either wild speculation or complete ambivalence, neither of which are healthy. Jesus’ return will be without warning, bringing judgement and the creation of a new heaven and a new earth. The first believers so anticipated Jesus’ return that when some of them died, they did not know what would happen to them. Our hope in Jesus continues whether we are still alive or dead in Christ. We should make ourselves ready for Jesus return by putting on faith, love, hope and self-control.
