“A Sword Shall Pierce Your Soul Also”

Having recognized Jesus and given thanks to God, Simeon turned to Mary and Joseph. He told them that Jesus would be the cause of the raise and fall of many, that many would oppose Him and that the thoughts of many hearts would be revealed. A sword would pierce Mary’s heart also. Jesus’ life was not an easy one, and an easy life is not of itself a sign of God’s approval.
