Simeon: A Man of Faith in Action

Preacher: Neil McDonald
Date: 3 January 2010
Readings: Genesis 12:1-9, Luke 2:25-35

Simeon was a man of faith. It influenced his actions every day. He expected God to fulfil his promises to console Israel, and God told him that he would not die before he saw this fulfilled. When he saw Jesus at his dedication in the Temple, he recognised him as the Messiah, the anointed one from God. He was ready to die because he saw God’s provision of salvation, although he had not seen the cross.
